Mozzarella is the most famous Italian cheese, well known all over the world. It is made in southern Italy from buffalo milk. Farmers will welcome you, and will open their doors to let you appreciate the different steps of the artisan mozzarella production: you will see the cheese maker kneading cheese with his hands until obtaining a smooth and shiny paste, this paste will be cut off in smaller pieces forming the individual mozzarella and you will give it a try!
Just a few minutes drive from the farm there is Paestum, and you cannot leave the area without seeing Paestum ancient city. Paestum was a major ancient Greek city on the coast of the Tyrrhenian Sea. The ruins of Paestum are famous for their three ancient Greek temples , dedicated to Hera, Athena, and Poseidon (Juno, Minerva, and Neptune to the Romans), dating from about 600 to 450 BC. Temples are breathtaking, they are the best preserved ones of ancient Magna Graecia. The city walls and amphitheatre are largely intact, and the bottom of the walls of many other structures remain, as well as paved roads. Today the remains of the ancient city are found in the modern Paestum, you can visit both the archaeological site is and the modern National Archaeological Museum within it.
